Full Decontamination Wash

Before anything touches your paint, the vehicle gets a thorough wash to remove surface dirt, grease and road film. This is not a quick rinse. It is the foundation that everything else depends on.

Chemical and Mechanical Decontamination

Iron fallout remover dissolves bonded brake dust and metallic particles embedded in the clear coat. Tar remover strips road tar. A clay bar pass pulls out any remaining contaminants the chemicals did not lift. Your paint needs to be completely clean before a coating goes on.

Paint Correction (where included)

Pro Shield and Elite Armor packages include a polish stage to remove swirl marks, light scratches and water etching before the coating is applied. Ceramic coating locks in what is underneath it, so the paint needs to be right first.

The cost depends on your vehicle size, its current paint condition, and the protection tier you choose. A professionally applied ceramic coating in South-East Queensland will last anywhere from two to five or more years depending on the product tier, how the vehicle is maintained, and how much UV and environmental exposure it gets. Regular maintenance washes using pH-neutral products make a significant difference to longevity. Wax and cheap car wash detergents will degrade the coating faster.
The Essential Protection package typically takes one full day. Pro Shield and Elite Armor packages require two days or more due to the paint correction stages involved. Your car will also need to stay dry for at least 24 hours after application while the coating cures, so plan for an overnight minimum.
Far less than an uncoated one. Wash with a pH-neutral shampoo, avoid automated brush car washes, and rinse the car down after heavy rain or exposure to bird droppings and tree sap. Wax lasts weeks. A quality paint sealant might last a few months. Ceramic coating bonds to the clear coat at a molecular level and stays there for years. The upfront cost is higher, but you are paying for something that does not wash off every time it rains. No preparation needed on your end. STARC Detailing Co. handles the full decontamination process as part of every ceramic coating package. Turning up with a freshly washed car is fine, but it is not required. Just bring it as it is.
Ceramic coating adds hardness to the surface and provides resistance to light swirl marks and minor abrasion, but it is not the same as paint protection film and will not stop a key scratch or a car park ding. What it does do is make the paint significantly easier to clean, more resistant to chemical etching from bird droppings and UV fade, and much easier to decontaminate at future washes.
